Tin Plating
Tin is a soft white metal which can be readily polished, scratchbrushed flow-melted to give a bright finish. It has low melting point 232˚C . It is non-toxic & is not affected by the organic acids present in the foodstuffs hence, its traditional use for coating “tin cans”. It is also soluble in hot solutions of caustic acid & potash, therefore caustic alkalis are not recommended for the cleaning of tinned ware. Electroplated tin, both dull & bright, is widely used as protective coating on all ferrous & non-ferrous metal.
The Stannolyte Acid Tin Plating is effective for production of bright tin electrodeposits which have applications in the electrical & electronics industries, for which it provides a bright , clean, corrosion resistant finish. Stannolyte provides an alternative to bright nickel in circumstances where a bright corrosion resistant finish is required and the use of bright zinc would not be acceptable.
